The Democratic Alliance (DA) has announced a new economic plan set by the political party to create jobs for unemployed South Africans.
Democratic Alliance (DA) outlines economic plan to create Jobs
The plan presented by DA leader John Steenhuisen before the elections.
‘’At the DA’s national manifesto launch in February, I announced that our first and most important pledge in this election is to deliver two million new jobs, and to lay the foundation for a new, rapidly growing and modern economy.
‘’The policy we launch today, shows why this is a credible, achievable and urgent pledge that a DA national government will deliver on. It is all built on getting the right people into government, so that we can make better choices.’’
Steenhuisen is confident that the new economic policy developed by DA will address the urgent unemployment rate in the country.
‘’The policy sets out how we will improve the ease of doing business, which alone will unlock between 350 000 and 400 000 new jobs.
Through making better fiscal choices, we will generate another 350 000 to 450 000 new jobs,’’ he said.
Focusing on unemployment rate as the biggest crisis facing the country, party leader John Steenhuisen says his party knows exactly where to create jobs, what choices they need to make, and what the trade-offs and costs are.
‘’Reforming labour policies through better choices, including our introduction of a new Youth Employment Opportunity Certificate, will unleash hundreds of thousands more jobs for young people.
Coupled with making better choices on collective bargaining to expand representation and exempt small, medium and micro enterprises from agreements they cannot afford, this will ignite the creation of a further 700 000 to 1 000 000 new jobs.’’
‘’Add to this the better choices we will make on industrial policy, that will generate between 400 000 and 500 000 new jobs, as well as better choices on trade policy, which will add another 100 000 to 150 000 jobs,’’ he said.
The Democratic Alliance claims that ANC government has made countless employment promises but failed to deliver on them. Its flawed approach to small business creation has impeded job creation rather than facilitated it.
‘’Unlike other political parties that are thumb-sucking jobs promises, every single pledge contained in the DA’s economic policy is the product of thorough costing and cutting-edge research,’’ he said.
The Gauteng government has partnered the department of employment and labour to introduce another recruitment program which the government says will result in almost 500,000 young people being trained in specialised skills before being placed in employment.
In the project, more than 90,000 people found employment but some of the jobs were temporary.
‘’A DA-led government aims to create a better balance between the unions and employers. Holding unions accountable when their members threaten other workers or destroy property will increase investment. Productivity will increase, driving up demand for labour.
Our industrial policy reforms can create between 400 000 and 500 000 jobs. We aim to achieve this by addressing the foundational elements of the policy pyramid—including safety and security, infrastructure, human capital, and the regulatory environment—rather than prioritising specific sectors at the top of the pyramid’’, he said.
DA Leader is confident that the creation of Jobs will boost the South African economy.
